Education For Ministry (EfM)
Meeting Information:
Thursday at 6:00
Every baptized person is called to ministry. EfM is a worldwide program developed by the School of Theology of the University of the South. It holds before us that the foundation for bringing Christ to the world lies in a Church empowered by an active, theologically articulate laity.
All Christians need a Christian education which supports their faith and which prepares them to express that faith in daily life. The Education for Ministry (EfM) program is a wonderful program of study and reflection that provides people from all walks of life with the education to grow in Christian faith and to carry out their ministries.
Education for Ministry (EfM) is a unique four-year distance learning certificate program in theological education based upon small-group study and practice. Since its founding in 1975, this international program has assisted more than 80,000 participants in discovering and nurturing their call to Christian service. EfM helps the faithful encounter the breadth and depth of the Christian tradition and bring it into conversation with their experiences of the world as they study, worship, and engage in theological reflection together.
EfM is a four-year course, with a year-to-year commitment by members who have the option of staying for four years or breaking up their study years as they are able to participate.
We meet once a week for 36 weeks. New members may enter the class each year at the beginning of the course year in September. There is a fee for the course that covers the costs of materials and mentoring. To learn more, please contact Sally Rooney.
